University Budget Office

The Budget Office is organized into three overlapping groups which are inherently aligned with our responsibilities.

The Budget Analyst group manages budgets and assists other administrative staff across campus with budgets and budget adjustments. The types of funds budgeted are: State Appropriations and Appropriated Receipts (including tuition), Facilities and Administrative (F&A) funds, the Education and Technology Fee (ETF) and most other student fees, and the larger Sales and Service units.

The Capital Improvement group processes and reports transactions related to the university's capital projects. These transactions include allotments and expenses for state funded construction projects, and chancellor approved repair and renovation projects.

The Systems Data and Reporting group serves as functional/technical liaison between the Budget Office and Enterprise Application Services (EAS) and provides support to the rest of the Budget Office for the Financials and HR systems. The Systems Data and Reporting group is also responsible for maintaining and querying the data in the Financials and HR systems for regular and ad hoc reporting.

Simply stated, the funds and budgets administered by the Budget Office are nearly all of those provided to the university by the State of North Carolina and current students, and also a significant portion of the funds provided by the federal government. Alternatively, the funds we do not manage are those categorized as Contracts & Grants, Endowments, Foundations, or Gifts.
